Large wall mirrors are invaluable because they increase both light and space and add a spark to the decoration of any room - some of them being as big as a wall, or just serving as a looking glass.

Mirrors are a popular alternative to paintings or prints. They can match any room decor and any style.

You Don't Know Where To Hang Them?

...Or how to use them to increase the feeling of space and light?

Check these ideas:

  • mirror dining roomPlace an ornate gilded mirror to create a warm and luxurious ambience in a dining room.

    IMPORTANT!
Position it in such a way, so it will reflect the table setting creating a dramatic feature.

  • mirror above fireplaceAn overmantel mirror balances and increase the impact of a fireplace.

    IMPORTANT!
Use a large enough mirror to help creating a balance with the other elements of the room.

  • hallway mirrorIn a townhouse entrance, if the hallway is narrow, use a large large mirror; that will make the hallway seem wider.

    IMPORTANT!
Give the mirror some utility too: place it high enough so you can check your appearance too!

  • large wall mirrors - bedroomDedicate a whole wall of mirrors in your bedroom for a glamorizing effect.

    IMPORTANT!
Place the mirrors on the longest wall. The whole room will appear twice its real width. Add a second mirror on the side wall for additional light.

  • Use Mirrors to Disguise Small Spaces

Mirrors expand your walls, and will open up small spaces with their illusion. The most practical and least expensive solution is to use mirrors tiles or panels.

    Where to place mirror panels?

  • Mirror tiles can be fitted behind shelves in a living room, to increase the impact of plants or ornaments on the shelves.
  • A whole wall of mirrors on a wall with a fireplace will give the feel of room being more deep than actual, and it will enhance the decorative accessories placed on the fireplace.
  • Create the impression of a second room opening, by placing a wall of mirrors, along with looped back curtains.
  • If you have deep recessed windows place mirror tiles in the recesses. That will make the room appear much wider.
  • Place a mirror panel between two windows. If the panel has the same height with the windows, it will create the illusion of a whole wall of windows.

  • IMPORTANT!: Never place mirrors in direct sunlight; it will sparkle and blind you. Plus they won't do much reflection either because of the light!
